Rain for most, so good conditions for your lawn. You may find growth slows a little, but as the longest day is only a week away then we will still need to mow once a week for some time to come.

Still very dry, so it may be worth slowing down your mowing now for a few days. Your lawn will not grow as quickly when its this dry. With regular April showers you might be mowing every 5 days, but every 7 to 10 days is fine at the moment. We have only seen 50mm of rain all year so far and only 2mm for the first 25 days of April!
If you are due to take a holiday please dont be tempted to mow the lawn short before you depart. Keep that mower at around 25mm if you can and unless you are going for more than 2 weeks it should be fine. If you are going for a longer break, over 14 days, then its worth getting someone to call round and mow after 10 days if you can.
Lastly, its still too dry to seed the lawn just yet. It may well be worth delaying this now until September.

Its been a dry start to April, so keep an eye on your lawn. Its a little too dry to consider overseeding which we would normally carry out around now. Keep mowing, once a week now, and reduce that clip to about 25mm for a standard lawn.

Time to get that mower out! We have had a decent run of weather in the last few days, lots of sunshine and a few showers. A light mow during a dry spell in the next few days will be all that is needed. Remember - keep that mower blade sharp! Set your mow height to about 10mm below the current tips of the sword. Mow it in the next few days if you can. If your lawn has grown a lot over the last few weeks due to it being south facing it would be worth trying to mow it again in another 3 to 5 days time.
We will be back with more advice soon, as its time to start thinking about how we will prepaire your lawn for summer over the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Welcome to 2011!!!
14th January 2011
As with last December its been very cold again!
Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, we are expecting to see fairly unsettled weather over the next month with some hard frosts at the end of the month. We may even see more snow on high ground.
As such, there is not a lot to do this month, make sure that mower is in good condition and get the blade sharpened in the next few weeks. This will reduce the risk of infection when you do start to mow in March.
If you have a petrol mower we would advise that you start it up at your next opportunity and make sure it is all running as it should be. (As always consult a professional if necessary).
Make sure your lawn is clear of any debris by using a spring rake and enjoy your last few weeks of relaxation before the hard work starts!
